Posted Mar 1, 2018 :
EINY Faculty is happy to invite all parents to attend our Annual Francophonie Festival. On March 23, beginning at 8:30 AM in the Elementary and Middle School building (111 East 22nd St.), EINY students will present a diverse collection of works created as part of their celebration of Francophonie Month. Included in the show will be a student song written during a workshop with Yacine Boulares, French-Tunisian saxophonist, clarinetist, and composer based in New York. The parents are invited to have a multi-sensory tour where the students will share their work and reflection about the oral language.
A sensory walk through Francophonie at EINY …
This year, the Ecole Internationale of New York chose to celebrate Francophonie through oral expression. Participating classes chose words and expressions, both francophone and anglophone, as inspiration for their work around the spoken word.
The students’ projects based on these words and expressions will be displayed in the school in order to create a “Sensory Experience”.
In addition, a debate on the principle of “budding ambassadors” will be orchestrated by students from 3rd through 8th grade on the theme “Is there a limit to what we can say? ”
Selected students will participate in the debate, which will take place in the school’s multipurpose room moderated by a jury of adults.
Finally, the kindergarten and 6th-grade classes will proudly present their video clip, a combination of song and dance which is the result of their long-term creative collaboration.
The students created this project from scratch over several weeks under the supervision of Yacine Boulares, saxophonist and jazz composer, and Nkumu Katalay, singer, musician, and dancer.
