EINY 5th grade and Middle School students had the opportunity to welcome and meet Mr. Junior Nzita Nsuami, a former child warfare fighter from Congo. Junior came to EINY to speak with students in Grades 5-8 about the exploitation of children in civil wars in Africa and about children’s rights. He presented his autobiography “If my life as a child soldier could be told”, and his experience as a child forced into war and separated from his family by warlords.
EINY students asked questions and interviewed Junior. They were touched by his story.
Our Middle School students presented a generous donation of $800 (that was raised during the Penny Olympics) to the organization that Junior founded « Paix pour l’Enfance ». The organization’s main goal is to contribute to the protection and promotion of human rights of children.
